Summer Lovin'

The summer has already gone by so fast!  Lucas is 8 weeks old today and I just can't believe it.  Shawn says he has gone from "twiggy to piggy".  He really has and it's just so cute!  From certain angles he looks like an old man with his receding hairline, but his hair is growing back, so that makes me happy!  So many fun things he is doing now.  Smiling, cooing, (almost) laughing, talking, doing push ups, holding his weight on his legs.   He is just such a big boy!  At his 2 month appointment he weighed in at 11 lbs 3 oz and 22.5 inches long.  I can't believe it!  Shawn's mom says I am pure cream :)

The cousins...Cooper and Lucas

I love my Great Grandma Joyce!

Well, Lucas is not the only thing that has been going on.  Last week we had Payton all week while her mom got married and went on her honeymoon.  We did some fun things.  One of them being Wheeler farm.  If no one has ever been there, it's this free farm/park where kids can see ducks, cows, pigs, chickens, goats, turkeys, rabbits, horses, and sheep.  There may be more that I'm forgetting, but all in all, she had a good time.

A very large smile from a very happy girl

Shawn has been so busy this summer.  Work, school, tennis, study groups, softball!  However, we were able to take a break from everything last night when we went to Red Butte Gardens to see our favorite, Josh Ritter play!  He is so awesome and we just love his Royal City Band!  The bassist has this crazy moustache, Josh is always so happy when he sings, the drummer....is priceless!  He has the best face.  I just love that they all get so into it and love what they do.

Happy Josh

Drummer Sam...he may look angry, but trust me, he has the  best drummer face!

I think it's time...

Well, it's time to write about our new sweet addition....Baby Boy Hancock.  He was born 5.25.  He weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and was 20 in long.  In the previous weeks Shawn had tried to persuade me that Noah was the name for this boy child, but I was just not interested.  While we were waiting for this baby to be born, Shawn was writing on the white board, Noah Foster, Lucas Foster....still, I was shaking my head to Noah.  As the day pressed on, the contractions got worse, but he wanted to be here so quickly!  After 6 hours of pitocin, morphine  and a 10 minute push our baby boy was born.  They cleaned him off, weighed him and well, he was a no name.  To Shawn he looked like a Lucas, to me, he looked like a Noah...we totally flip-flopped!  We had some visitors come and ask his name and we just couldn't decide.  Well, about 10:30 that night I said, okay, we need to name this child!  We stared at him for a little longer and came to the agreement that we would call him, Lucas Foster Hancock.  And now, I can't see him as anything else.  We are just so in love with him and he is such a good baby!

The following pictures are the first three weeks of his life:
