Events of March

I realize that March is not over yet, but I thought that I would post the exciting things that have happened so far....

Olivia's First Birthday.  Isn't she cute?

Jack Attack!  Celebrating Olivia.

And as most first birthday's go, this was not much cleaner once she realized she didn't have to be so dainty.

These are the cute boots that Shawn got me for Christmas.  Well, they were too big, so we had to take them to get a smaller size.  Since I have munchkin feet, I had to get them custom ordered.   They then tell me that it will take about 4 weeks for them to come in, they'll call when they are ready.  This was maybe the 8th of January.  So a month later I call and they tell me they are not there, but they will call me.  Well, by the first of the month I kind of forgot about them, until a week or so ago.  I called, they took like 2 hours to get back to me and said, we just got them in.  Sure.....anyway, all in all, they were worth the wait!
Shamrock Cookies for St. Patty's Day!  Payton made the stems :)

BABY BEDDING!!!  This causes me great relief.  I love the added touch of Big Toe,  a blue Pascal and a penguin.

I just would like to add that this week I will have 9 weeks left of pregnancy!!!  I don't think you know the joy that it brings my soul.  Happy March!

chicks and ducks and geese better scurry

Every day while sitting at work,  I look out the window and see geese in the park, usually 4 or 5.  They are always accompanied by about 15 ducks.  There are times when I see people with sacks full of bread feeding these birds.  There have also been times when I see people being chased by these animals.  Well, today I look out and see the geese on the sidewalk, all 5 in a row watching the cars pass by.  Their heads in unison as one car passes to the left, then to the right.  10 minutes pass by, they seem to tire of this activity, waddle back to their posse of ducks and head for the elderly couple with bread in hand.

'Missing Missy'

Okay, so all of you who know me know that I love animals.  I love cats the most!  I have had 3 of my own, which I will talk about one day.  I just love watching them and reading about the funny things they do.  A few months ago I received this email and at first I was like, what is this?  Well my friends, it was the funniest email I have ever read.  So I thought I would take this opportunity to share it with you.  Enjoy!  If you don't like it as much as I did, that's okay too.

Story goes : Shannon (the secretary) has lost her cat and has asked David (the graphic designer) to help with a lost poster. This is their email correspondence…

Hi

This is the only photo of her I have she answers to the name Missy and is black and white and about 8 months old. missing on Harper street and my phone number.
Thanks Shan.

Dear Shannon,

That is shocking news.
Although I have two clients expecting completed work this afternoon, I will, of course, drop everything and do whatever it takes to facilitate the speedy return of Missy.
Regards, David.

Dear Shannon,
It’s a design thing. The cat is lost in the negative space.

Dear Shannon,
Having worked with designers for a few years now, I would have assumed you understood, despite our vague suggestions otherwise, we do not welcome constructive criticism. I don’t come downstairs and tell you how to send text messages, log onto Facebook and look out of the window. I have amended and attached the poster as per your instructions.
Regards, David.

yeah can you do the poster or not? I just want a photo and the word lost and the telephone number and when and where she was lost and her name. Not like a movie poster or anything stupid. I have to leave early today. If it was your cat I would help you. Thanks.

Dear Shannon,
I don’t have a cat. I once agreed to look after a friend’s cat for a week but after he dropped it off at my apartment and explained the concept of kitty litter. I have attached the amended version of your poster as per your detailed instructions.

I know, but that one is cute. As Missy has quite possibly met any one of several violent ends, it is possible you might get a better cat out of this. If anybody calls and says “I haven’t seen your orange cat but I did find a black and white one with its hind legs run over by a car, do you want it?” you can politely decline and save yourself a costly veterinarian bill.
Regards, David.

Fine. That will have to do.

For those of you who have been pregnant

Know how totally awesome the glucose tolerance test is.  If not, it's a test they do at about 28 weeks to check if you have gestational diabetes.   Well, when I arrived to my appointment Tuesday afternoon I was a few minutes early and I just waited, and waited, and waited.  Once the RN took me into the room after 30 minutes of waiting she asked, "Did you drink the glucose drink?"  And I just looked at her with wide eyes and said, I'm so sorry, I totally forgot!  So I had to go to the lab, which luckily is right next door, and take 5-8 minutes to drink what appears to be orange Gatorade.  First swallow I thought, well, this isn't so bad, but then by the end it gave me nausea and a little bit of heartburn.

The orange beverage they call a glucose drink
So then I go back to the appointment, continue to wait, and wait and wait.  My doctor, whom I must say is the most awesome OB ever!  Her name is Dr. Rebecca Ponder, but she prefers we call her Sam.  She has a tongue ring and the cutest pixie cut!  So we hear the heartbeat, she asks if there are any questions (By the way, the baby is fine).

After an hour of drinking this beverage, I go back to get my blood drawn.  Not just one tube, but 4!  Well, the phlebotomist is super slow and shaky and I'm thinking, does she even know what she is doing?  I have never lived in such agony having my blood drawn.  And then she thought it would be a good idea that she cut off the entire circulation of my arm just from the colored tape they wrap around it!  She then said to me, "Now, leave this on for 20 minutes," and I just thought, um..is my arm going to fall off?

Oh, it's not over yet.  I had to go back to my appointment to get a RhoGam shot because of my negative blood type.  Well, once again, I had to wait, and wait, and wait.  Surprisingly, the shot took 5 seconds and I was finally out the door.  It was quite the experience at the doctors office.
